While XOLO just launched a Tegra 3 powered phone in India, China saw the world’s first Tegra 4 smartphone. The ZTE device, is a version of the Geek, with the Tegra 4 chip replacing the Intel chip.
The ZTE Geek U988S is an upgraded version of the ZTE Geek with a significant change in the processor. The device is now powered by a 1.8 GHz quad core NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor along with 2 GB of RAM instead of 1 GB. Also the screen resolution has been increased to 1920 x 1080 pixels. While the primary camera remains unchanged at 8 MP, the secondary camera is 2 MP.
The ZTE Geek U988S would however be available exclusively to China Mobile’s subscribers using their proprietary TD-SCDMA network. While the ZTE Geek, which was announced on April 10, is yet to be released worldwide, the probability of the revised model coming globally is very low.
