A leaked document has just surfaced on Xperia Blog, connected most probably to Japanese carrier NTTDoCoMo, picturing a device which could most probably be Xperia Z1 Mini. While the Xperia Z1 was an eagerly anticipated phone, the Mini version seems worth waiting on too.
Sony, rather than following in the footsteps of Samsung and HTC and launching a lower spec Mini phone, has actually come up with the same specs in a smaller package – the Xperia Z1 Mini might boast of the same 20.7-megapixel camera and 2.2-GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, but in a 4.3-inch package, making this one heck of a phone. Called the Xperia Z1 f, this Mini smartphone stands apart from the rest.
It seems that a trend has come up in the smartphone market. After releasing their high-end smartphones, companies tend to release ‘mini’ versions of these phones – devices having similar specs in a smaller package with a more affordable price tag. This works out well, since smartphone companies can cash on their high-selling smartphones and consumers get something they aspire to, but couldn’t lay hands on because of the price tag. It seems like a win-win for both.
