Ever since we heard about it for the first time, we have been curious about Xolo’s tablet offering – the Xolo Play Tab. Well, it is finally up for grabs. The tablet comes with features such as a Tegra 3 processor and 1 GB RAM.
“As Xolo continues to deliver on its promise to bring differentiated technology to discerning consumers, we’re replicating the success we have achieved in the smartphone category now in tablets. XOLO Play Tab 7.0 marks the first tablet in the Xolo Play category of products, powered by NVIDIA Tegra. Similar to Xolo Play T1000 smartphone launched in July, the Tab delivers similar entertainment now on a bigger 7-inch screen,” says Sunil Raina, Business Head at Xolo.
Being a mid-range tablet, there is not too much to be excited about this tablet. The Xolo Play Tab 7.0 comes with a 7-inch, 1280 x 800p IPS display. Under the hood, there is a NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core CPU, with a fifth, power saving core. There is also a 12-core GPU, which makes us have some expectations from the graphics performance of the tab. Surprisingly, there is just 1 GB RAM to accompany the CPU and GPU. The tablet has a thickness of 10.6mm which can’t be appreciated much either. The only thing to look forward to is Full HD video playback. It will run on a 4000 mAh battery.
A couple other things that will be disappointing are that it runs on Android 4.1 and also that there is no 3G or voice calling support on-board.
The tablet will receive competition from not only other tabs in he market but its own predecessor Xolo Tab which at least offered 3G and voice calling support.
