Xolo has produced handsets for every range and every man. It has tried to come up with a lot of stuff, it has also tried to rope in huge companies like Intel to help make its products become better. But, since it currently does not rank amongst the market biggies like Samsung and HTC, it has to build up its tempo step by step, which is why it has launched its new budget smartphone – the A500S at a competitive price of Rs. 6,999.
So what does this phone have on offer? Lets have a look at it.
The A500S has a good form factor, being not too thin and not too thick at 9mm. Inside the hood it comes with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor which sounds great, but its 512 MB RAM does dampen our spirits a little. Xolo has mentioned that it comes with Android 4.2, which is great for a budget handset. Its 4-inch display and Mali 400 GPU should work out fine for regular games but not for HD games though.
It has a 5-megapixel snapper at the back and a VGA one in the front. It offers Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth connectivity along with 4GB internal memory and 32 GB MicroSD support. The 1400 mAh battery should be able to support the handset easily. In addition to all this the phone has dual-SIM functionality and comes pre-loaded with apps such as Xolo Secure – an anti-theft and back up app.
Overall, it seems a value-for-money handset on the first look.
The smartphone market is heating up. Everyday, new smartphones are pouring in. While everyone of us has their hearts set on top-of-the-range smartphones, the sad reality is that not many can truly afford them. But, still for the daily stuff, like accessing social networks on the go, social messaging and other stuff that a basic or feature one needs a smartphone – this is where budget smartphones come in. Budget smartphones fulfill this need but not by burdening your monthly budget significantly, which is exactly why this category is such a hit in India.
