Xiaomi had been teasing a new announcement recently and as we suspected, it’s a camera. Xiaomi has unveiled a new action camera similar to GoPro dubbed the Xiaomi Yi Action Camera.
The Xiaomi Yi Action Camera comes with similar features to the GoPro but a budget. It packs in a 16 MP camera, which is a Sony Exmor R BSI sensor and it comes with the ability to record 1080p videos. The device comes with various shooting modes including slow-mo, time-lapse and more. There’s 64 GB of storage for all your pictures and videos.
The Yi comes with water resistance for up to 40 metres depth in water, so underwater shooting should be fun. The device weighs a mere 72 grams.
The Xiaomi Yi Action Camera has been launched in China, where it will go on sale via the flash sale model. The specs are similar to the GoPro Hero3+ but there’s a huge difference in price. The Xiaomi Yi Action Camera is priced at 399 Yuan, which is equivalent to $64 (Rs. 4,000). You can get the selfie rod along with the camera for 499 Yuan. For comparisons sake, the GoPro Hero3+ costs $300.
The camera surely sounds great for the price and we can’t wait to try one out. Xiaomi will be selling the Yi in China only for now but we hope they bring it globally.
