The Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has taken a great start in India with its devices selling like hotcakes and the company is planning to cement its position in the Indian market. The company plans to start selling its devices through its own website later this year.
Xiaomi India Head Manu Jain revealed the news to PTI. Reportedly, Xiaomi will launch its website in the country later this year. Currently, Xiaomi has partnered with online retailer Flipkart for its flash sales. The company uses its own website to sell its devices in all countries where it operates except for India and Indonesia.
Xioami will also set up a R&D facility in Bangalore, India, its first unit outside China. Manu Jain said, “We are currently looking for warehousing and logistics partners in India, as well as deciding on a payment mechanisms like cash on delivery. It may take anywhere between three to nine months.”
Xiaomi has had a great run in India with the company launching four smartphones in the country since its arrival, the Mi3, Redmi 1s, Redmi Note and the recently launched Mi4. The company recently revealed that it has sold 1 million smartphones till now in India.
