Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi announced MIUI 9 back in July last year. And later in November, the company announced the Global MIUI 9 ROM in India. The Global MIUI 9 ROM was rolled out in three batches to all Xiaomi smartphones. While several Xiaomi smartphones have already received the MIUI 9 Global update, the latest one to join the group is the Redmi 4A.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4A, which was launched last year in March in India with MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, is now receiving the MIUI 9.2.6 Global Stable ROM update. However, this update is not based on Android Oreo, instead, it’s based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
The update weighs 1.3 GB in size and carries build number 9.2.6.0(NCCMIEK). Well, even if it’s based on Nougat and not Oreo, it still does bring along MIUI 9 features like split-screen multi-tasking to the Redmi 4A.
That’s not it, the update also comes with security patch that’s dated January 1, 2018 along with reading mode, new UI, new lockscreen, and a lot more. You can head over to this link if you are interested in detailed changelog of the update.
The MIUI 9.2.6 Global Stable ROM for Redmi 4A is rolling out over-the-air, hence, it will take a couple of days to reach all the units. But, you can also check for the update manually by heading over to the Settings > About device > System update menu.
Alternately, you can also head over to this link and grab the Recovery ROM to flash the update manually to your phone.
