Last year, Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi skipped Mobile World Congress (MWC) that was held in Barcelona, Spain. But this year, the company has confirmed its presence at MWC where it’s expected to unveil some new smartphones. Xiaomi was also expected to unveil the Mi MIX 2S at MWC, but, information coming out of China last month suggested that it could be launched before MWC kicks off. While Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed the unveiling of Mi MIX 2S at or before MWC, its specifications have surfaced online which give us an idea of what to expect from this smartphone.
Specsheet of the Mi MIX 2S has leaked online along with a sketch (pictured above) that gives us an idea of what the device might look like. According to this leak, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S will be powered by Snapdragon 845 processor that will be clocked at 2.8 GHz and be paired with 8 GB of RAM.
The phone will also have “12 MP Optical Zoom Dual Camera” at the back, and, it will flaunt a four-sided curved ceramic uni-body design. Both the Mi MIX and Mi MIX 2 sported a bezel-less design, and, the Mi MIX 2S adopts the same design language, albeit with smaller bezels, especially at the bottom.
Well, as a result of reduced bottom bezels, the front-facing camera that resided on the bottom bezel on Mi MIX and Mi MIX 2 has now been moved up top in the right corner on the Mi MIX 2S. Personally speaking, we kinda dislike this camera positioning as it looks awkward. But hey, keep in mind that these are just leaks and not official confirmation from Xiaomi.
Having said that, apart from increased screen-to-body ratio, the Mi MIX 2S also has under-display fingerprint, something that we have already seen on Vivo X20 Plus UD.
Well the front design of the Mi MIX 2S shown in the sketch leaked today is the same as the one shown in a render leaked earlier (pictured above). However, this render leaked earlier shows single camera and fingerprint scanner at the back of Mi MIX 2S, whereas, the sketch leaked today shows dual camera setup at the back with the fingerprint scanner missing (because under-display).
Like we already said, there’s no word from Xiaomi about the Mi MIX 2S, hence, take all the information with a proverbial grain of salt. That said, if Xiaomi is indeed planning to unveil the Mi MIX 2S this month, then we can expect more information to surface online about this phone in the coming days.
