The Xiaomi Mi 5 was announced last month during MWC 2016 and the company earlier this month also revealed its plans to launch the Mi 5 in India in April. However, looks like Xiaomi wanted to launch the Mi 5 early in India and hence has launched it for Rs. 24,999 today. With this launch, the Mi 5 becomes the first Snapdragon 820 powered smartphone to be launched in India. But, the sad part about the Mi 5 launch is that, only 32 GB version is launched and there isn’t any announcement on the 64 GB version as yet.
The Mi 5 is Xiaomi’s latest flagship smartphone which is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC which is backed by 3 GB RAM and Adreno 530 GPU. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and sports a 3000 mAh battery to keep things moving.
It comes with an internal storage of 32 GB, with no option for external storage. The Mi 5 boasts off a 5.15-inch Full-HD display and also features a 16 MP rear camera and a 2-micron pixel 4 MP front camera. The rear camera module ships with Sony IMX298 sensor.

The Mi 5 is very lightweight and boasts off a design which is a combination of scratch-resistant 3D glass and metal frame. The Mi 5 will be available for sale on Mi.com starting from 11 am on April 6 as a part of Mi Fan Festival to celebrate Xiaomi’s sixth anniversary. Xiaomi also introduced the Mi Protect which safeguards the Mi 5 against accidental damage. It can be availed for Rs. 499 from Mi.com during the Mi Fan Festival.
Xiaomi also launched the Redmi Note 3 in India earlier this month which is priced at Rs. 9999 and is powered by a Snapdragon 650 SoC and 2 GB RAM.
