While we just saw the next generation Redmi Note 4, the company may never release a Snapdragon variant of the handset.
According to Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 would probably not have a Snapdragon variant and will retail globally with only MediaTek’s deca-core Helio X20 processor. Considering that Xiaomi had released a Snapdragon variant of the Redmi Note 3, there was hope that the Redmi Note 4 may also follow with a Snapdragon variant.
While it certainly may not have disastrous effects in most markets, the Indian market would be hit the most. Given that Xiaomi handsets powered by MediaTek processors are completely banned from the Indian market, in the absence of the Snapdragon powered variant, the Redmi Note 4 may never enter India.
