With the Google’s Android One project receiving praise from all quarters, Xiaomi also plans to jump into the bandwagon.
According to sources, Hugo Barra, VP of Xiaomi, has revealed that he is personally a huge fan of the Android One and that the company is also considering joining the Android One project for its smartphones. He apparently revealed that the he had a bias for the project at it was underway at the time he was working at Google.
Interestingly, though Barra showed keen interest in the Android One initiative, he was quick to add that the company has for now decided to not to create another line of product because they want to focus on the existing line-up. However, considering that Xiaomi is already providing better hardware than most of the other providers at a lesser price, their entry into the Android One project could add more competition.
Speaking about his interest, Hugo Barra said, “It has been cooking at Google for a long time. I am a huge fan. I think it is a very smart move by Google. And it is a great product. We will like to use Android One as we are a huge fan of the product. I think it is just a matter of time.”
