While Xiaomi finished another flash sale of the Mi3 yesterday with the handset getting sold out in 2.4 seconds, the company may be discontinuing the handset in the country.
According to the latest information available to us, Xiaomi has decided to discontinue the sale of the Xiaomi Mi3 in India. The company would now instead focuss on the Redmi 1s, which is expected to go on sale on September 2. While the reason is not entirely clear, sources claim that the company is currently focussing on moving to other markets instead on making India a priority.
The Xiaomi Mi3 has been repeatedly being sold out in a matter of a few seconds. While the company has already pushed tens of thousands units, the supply is still not sufficient to meet the requirement with pre-registrations raking in over 1 lack interested buyers. While the Redmi 1S is bound to attain success on its own, it seems imprudent of Xiaomi to discontinue the Mi3 unless they’re planning on launching the Mi4 soon.
Speaking about the issue, Manu Jain, CEO, Xiaomi India, said, “Over next few weeks, we will focus on Redmi 1S, and Mi 3 won’t be available. We will take the final call after few weeks, once we have more visibility / data points.”
