While Oppo and Gionee have already setup a well-connected base in India, another well-known Chinese manufacturer – Xiaomi, seems to be preparing for its India entry.
Xiaomi has just launched its official India website – MI.com/in, thus hinting at commencement of operation in the Indian markets. As of now the website doesn’t reveal any details but just mentions that “Our incredible journey starts now.” This comes as no surprise after Hugo Barra, the VP of Xiaomi descended to India recently to work out the market strategy for the country. Soon thereafter Manu Kumar Jain was appointed as the General Manager for India operations.
While India was on Xiaomi’s expansion list, sources suggested that the company could begin operations in time for the Diwali season. However, given the rate at which Xiaomi seems to be moving, we can expect the company’s grand entry in the next few months and the website is just a pointer checked of the list. The company is expected to adopt online retailing of its handsets through its own store as well as other online retailers. Are you excited about Xiaomi’s entry into India?
