WhatsApp is now testing the colorful status feature that started on Facebook last year. The feature is under testing and if you are on the beta version chances are you might be able to see it. That’s because this seems to be a server-side switch and not everyone is seeing the change. Another alternative would be to clear the data but nothing is guaranteed.
The age-old simple status desperately needs some customization features as right now it is nothing more than a simple line of text. If you somehow have the feature, you’ll have to head on to the Status tab and press the floating pencil button. There you, ll find three icons that allow emoji, font or background color to be added. Just write what suits you and fill in a background color and hit the green send button.
If this is a server-side switch it might take time to reach you. As these sometimes arrive in phases. And if you are not on WhatsApp beta, you should sign-up to get new features earlier than others.
