Just days after WhatsApp hit a billion monthly active users, WhatsApp has now increased the group members’ limit to 256 users.
The latest WhatsApp for Android v2.12.429 accommodates 256 users in the group chats. The feature is however available only in the beta version and is available only to users with the beta version installed. The feature is expected to roll out to all users in the next few days. This move comes almost a year after WhatsApp first increased the group limit from 50 to 100.
The move comes as no surprise, considering that most other instant messengers like Telegram and Hike support over 200 users. With WhatsApp touching the one billion users mark, the company had to make provisions to accommodate more users in the groups. The company also recently made the service free forever. Is the feature available to you, let us know.
