While Vodafone has been boosting its data services across India, the company has now launched its own 3G services in Shillong.
Vodafone India has announced the launch of its 3G services on its own network in Shillong. The operator was currently offering the services in the area through bilateral intra-circle roaming (ICR) pacts with other carriers. However, after purchasing its own spectrum in the area and after improving the network with an investment of over Rs. 500 crore, the operator has now launched the services on its own network.
Speaking about the launch, Alok Verma, Business Head – (Assam & North East), Vodafone India, said, “Customers in Shillong would now avail of faster data browsing experience at existing 3G tariffs. Vodafone’s 3G customers in Shillong would be able to make video calls, watch live TV, access the high speed internet, download large email attachments faster and download music tracks, as well as the usual voice call and messaging services found in a mobile phone.”
