Viber, the VOIP app for iPhone and Android devices which lets you make free phone calls to anyone that also has the application installed has received an important update for its iPhone and Android bringing the version of the app to v2.2.
With this update Viber brings in group messaging, allows assigning background to conversations, lets you add photo to contact list and much more.
New features that arrive with v2.2 for iPhone and on Android devices:
- Group Messaging: you can now send free messages to groups of friends. Share photos, links and invite more friends to join
- Assign a custom background to conversation
- Photos were added to the Contacts list
- Added time stamp for each message
- Added localization support for Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Portuguese, German, Spanish, French and Russian
- New voice engine and Improved sound quality (iPhone)
- See who joined Viber lately when viewing the Contacts screen (iPhone)
With this update Viber has also said that the company is working hard to support Android 4.1 Jelly bean and would release an update for it soon.
