Recently Micromax had inked a deal with Cyanogen for a new range of smartphones. However now the company has made itself the exclusive partner brand thus posing a huge risk to the upcoming OnePlus One launch in India.
Micromax has revealed that it has signed an exclusive partnership with Cyanogen for its upcoming line of Yu smartphones. Interestingly, the agreement apparently states that any other company launching a Cyanogen smartphone in India wouldn’t receive any support from the popular custom ROM maker.
While this seems to be a case of not reading the terms & condition (most logical explanation to the blunder), the company to be affected the most and in the immediate future is definitely the ambitious OnePlus which is launching the much awaited OnePlus One on December 2.
While OnePlus has acknowledged the issue and expressed its utter shock at the move, the company has revealed that they would manually service their customers in India by releasing the ROM. Considering the global devices would receive the regular updates, the Indian users would have to manually flash the updates (something that we wouldn’t want to do on a regular basis)
