Remember the Twitter #Music app for iOS, which was launched in April last year? Well, we would not blame you if you didn’t, since we had forgotten about it too. Well, Twitter will be shutting down the app pretty soon.
In fact, Twitter is pulling the #Music app from the iOS App Store today and people who have the app installed will be able to use till April 18. After 18th April, the app will cease to work. Twitter announced this news saying, “Later this afternoon, we will be removing Twitter #music from the App Store. If you have the app, it will continue to work until April 18.”
Twitter announced the #Music service last year on April 18 and it’s shutting down on the same date this year. The app integrated with popular music streaming apps like Spotify, Rdio and iTunes to stream music trending on Twitter. Twitter even released the app to various celebs to gain some traction but sadly, the lack of development and low user interest has resulted in the death. The app was available only on iOS and in US, which did not help either.
But it’s not over at Twitter yet, in another tweet, the company said, “We continue to experiment with new ways to bring you great content based on the music activity we see every day on Twitter.” So, another Twitter music app in the works? Well you never know although it seems highly unlikely.
