Addition of ‘Tap to Translate’ feature in the latest update to Google Translate now lets you translate text from within any app on Android. Don’t know how to do it? Well, we show you how it’s done with the help of this tutorial.
How to translate text from within any app on Android
Step 1: Download the ‘Google Translate‘ app from Google’s Play Store. If you have it installed on your Android device already, make sure it’s updated to the latest version.
Step 2: You will need to set up Google Translate after you’ve installed/updated it. Select your primary language and the language you translate most often from the drop down list provided.
Check the ‘Translate offline‘ option if you want to translate text without using the Internet. Tap on ‘Done‘ after you have set up everything.

Step 4: Now tap on the ‘three horizontal lines‘ provided at the top-left corner of the app screen and then tap on ‘Settings‘. You will be then be presented with three options, tap on the ‘Tap to Translate‘ option.
We have already enabled the ‘Tap to Translate’ feature in Step 3 that’s why the check box provided against the ‘Enable Tap to Translate’ feature is ticked. You now need to tick the check box provided against the ‘Show notification‘ option. However, this is optional and not mandatory. What it will do is it will always show a translate option in the notification bar.
Step 5: Now open the app within which you want to translate the text. We opened the Facebook app. Select and copy the text that you want to translate from within the app.
After the text is copied, an icon with the Google Translate app logo will appear on the screen, tap on it and the text will be converted into the language according to your preference.
