Telecom Regulatory of India, better known as TRAI has made a couple of major announcements. Firstly, pan-India MNP is all set to start from May 3rd and secondly, TRAI is launching a new Android app to get customer feedback.u
According to the fresh draft of regulations pertaining to Nationwide mobile number portability, May 3 is the day when people will finally be able to switch operators while retaining the same number nationwide.
The current draft is TRAI’s 6th amendment, which has gone through a number of changes in the last few years. TRAI has fixed a deadline of February 6, 2015 for the present draft and till then, it will gather comments and feedback on the same. The comments can be send by email to advmn@trai.gov.in and trai.mn@gmail.com.
TRAI has also launched a new app for Android users for feedback. Users will now be able to give feedback on their mobile service providers through the app. Previously, feedback could only be given to TRAI using web based surveys, face to face or through telephone calls. This surely is a great new initiative, as the people now have become more tech savvy and using an app for feedback should surely be easy. The app is not yet available on the Play Store but you can hit this link to download the apk file.
If the current draft indeed goes through, we will be able to easily port our numbers nationwide starting May 3.
