With everyone having expectations from Samsung’s Tizen project, the OS is now being optimized for low end smartphones to cater to a larger segment of the industry.
Samsung is reportedly further developing the Tizen OS to support devices of all specifications. With the additional support, Tizen would be supported by a wide range of devices and specifications. The high end Tizen based devices would require just 512 MB of RAM with 1 GB of internal storage. While the OS would be supported by various screen sizes, a minimum resolution of 800 x 480 pixels resolution is required.
However for low end devices, the company plans on using the Tizen Mobile Lite OS which requires just 256 MB of RAM with minimum resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Creating a low end platform like this would help Tizen to replace feature phones all together. Further, with such low end support, Tizen would be successful in developing markets like India.
