After many delays due to technical difficulties, all the major operators have now launched nationwide Mobile Number Portability.

The major telecom operators in India, which include Airtel, Vodafone, Reliance Communication, Idea Cellular, Uninor, MTNL and BSNL have announced the launch of the National Mobile Number Portability across India. With this move, users can now move from one part of the country to another without having to change the number.

With the National Mobile Number Portability, users can retain the same number while shifting from one operator to the other in a different telecom circle. The process for full MNP is the same as intra-city mobile number portability. Meanwhile some operators are also allowing their customers to transfer their prepaid balance from one circle to the other as well as free incoming on roaming during the processing period.
