Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has issued “The Telecom Consumer Protection (Fourth Amendment) Regulations, 2012” permitting the service providers to offer Combo Vouchers.
Until now under the Telecom Consumer Protection Regulation, 2012 (TCPR) permitted the telecom operator only to offer three categories of vouchers viz. Plan Vouchers, Top-ups and STVs.
But there was a constant demand from various telecom operators to allow a fourth category of vouchers to its subscribers wherein the operators could provide monetary and tariff concessions via a single voucher itself.
In simple words, with the Combo Vouchers, users will be able to add prepaid balance to their numbers and will also get benefits of special tariffs by opting in for a single voucher.
TRAI has also instructed the operators that the Combo Vouchers have to carry a Blue colour band with them to make it differentiable while the Top Up vouchers will bear a Green colour band.
TRAI has also made it clear that the Combo Vouchers should carry all the terms and conditions so that subscribers are informed about them before opting in for them.
