Last weekend, Japanese tech giant Sony rolled out Android 8.0 Oreo update for Xperia R1 and R1 Plus smartphones that are sold exclusively in India. Now, the company is rolling out the Oreo update for three more smartphones – the Xperia XA1, Xperia XA1 Ultra and Xperia XA1 Plus.
The Sony Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra were launched last year in February during Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, and, both of them were running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The Xperia XA1 Plus, on the other hand, was launched later in September at IFA 2017 in Germany, however, it too booted up to Android 7.0 Nougat.
Well now, all three of these smartphones are finally receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update. As this is an Oreo update, it brings along features like Picture-in-Picture Mode, Notification Snoozing and more to these smartphones. Moreover, it also comes with Android security patch that’s dated February 5, 2018. Well, this isn’t the latest security patch, but it does contain full security string.
