We knew it was going to happen anytime soon and here it is. Sony has today officially announced the launch and availability of its Xperia Ion in India as an HD powerhouse.
The Xperia Ion will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and arrive with a 4.55 inch HD Reality Display with Sony’s MOBILE BRAVIA Engine and has been priced at Rs. 36,999.
The smartphone was spotted online on Snapdeal a few days back for Rs. 35,999 and has been available since then. We were awaiting an official confirmation from Sony.
Going by the specification, the Xperia Ion packs in the following features:

- 1.5 GHz dual core Qualcomm Scorpion processor
- Adreno 220 GPU
- 1 GB RAM
- 13.2 GB internal memory

- 1900 mAh powerful battery
- 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DLNA
At the price of Rs. 36,999 the Xperia Ion it looks to be Sony’s target on Samsung’s Galaxy S III but is it worth the bet?
