In addition to the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphones, Sony also unveiled a new pair of wireless earphones at the MWC 2018 press conference. The Xperia Ear Duo is Sony’s Bluetooth stereo headsets that are completely wireless compatible with both Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri.
Hiroshi Ito, Deputy Head of Smart Product Business Group at Sony Mobile Communications said,
“Xperia Ear Duo represents what we’ve learned from audio and acoustics research. Ear Duo is the first wireless headset to deliver a breakthrough Dual Listening experience – the ability to hear music and notifications simultaneously with sounds from the world around you.”
The Sony Xperia Ear Duo works through your gestures, it recognizes head movements like a quick nod or shaking head can be used to pick up or decline calls. The Daily Assist identifies the time, location, and current activity with reading messages and reminders. It also lets you hear ambient sounds which can help you to hear the exteral noise if needed.
According to Sony, the Xperia Ear Duo offers 4-hour battery life which is better than Samsung Gear IconX in contrast and competes with Apple EarPods which is claimed to offer 5 hours of battery life. The Xperia Ear Duo comes with a charging case that charges up to 3 times and IPX2 certified splash-proof design.
The Xperia Ear Duo is available in Black and Gold colors. It is compatible with Android and iOS enabled devices and the companion app will be available for free download at the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Xperia Ear Duo rolls out from Spring 2018 and the price starts at $279.
