With word out that Sony would be rolling out Jelly Bean update for the newly launched Xperia Z, it seems that this is true indeed. Starting next month, the Xperia Z owners can start checking their devices for possible updates.
The Sony Xperia Z which was launched with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean would shortly be upgraded to v 4.2.2 of the Jelly Bean OS. We managed to get a screenshot of the update. The details from the update show version 4.2.2 update of Android Jelly Bean has firmware version 11.1.A.1.450. But this seems to be a beta version so we can expect the final update to have firmware number 11.1.A.X.XXX. Also this update will have a new 3.6 kernel compared to the earlier 3.4 kernel.
While no specific date has been announced yet, the updates are expected to be available by the end of March. Also the updates are expected to be rolled out in Europe first followed by other regions. This move by Sony to release an update after such a short duration of launch will definitely be appreciated by all users.
