Sony Mobiles is indeed having a tough time in the mobile phone market and the company knows about it, but is not losing hope.
Sony’s Mobile’s sales head Dennis van Schie has in an interview to FTD said that Sony “will create, in the near future, a flagship model that can compete with Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy S III.”
This is indeed a bold statement and we really hope that Sony keeps up with its words. In the recent months, we have heard about two smartphones that the company is working on.
One is the Sony C650X codenamed Sony Odin and another smartphone, the C6603 Sony Yuga which is is expected to arrive with a 5-inch Full-HD 1080p display and which has also been pictured earlier this month.
No more details were revealed by van Schie but he said that the flagship will run on Android OS. He also said that Sony is keeping a close watch on as to how Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 OS is doing in the market and if the OS succeeds, Sony “will not be caught off-guard”.
It would be interesting to see as to how Sony fares in the market with its new flagship which we can expect to be showcased in early-2013.
