Two new Xperia handsets were launched yesterday at the huge telecom and mobile event “IndiaOn” at New Delhi. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray and Xperia Active have now made their way to the India market and will be launched in the month of September. Both the handsets run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 1GHz S2 processors.
The Xperia ray is being called as the younger sibling to the recently announced Xperia Arc and features a 3.3 inch Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine, a 1 GHz processor, an 8.1MP camera with Exmor R technology for mobile and HD video functionality, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, 3.5mm audio jack, 300MB internal memory with expansion options of upto 32GB, and a large 1500mAH battery. The Ray will be available in a variety of colours including Black, Gold, White and Pink.
The Xperia active is a compact smartphone targeting consumers with an active lifestyle. The handset is dust proof and water resistant and the touchscreen responds and works even if you have wet fingers. It is a tough handset with a 3 inch screen, a 5Mp camera, changeable back panels, USB, microSD support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack and a 1200mAH battery.
The prices of the handsets are yet to be declared, but keep a look out as they will be out in the coming month.
