All the Windows Phone lovers, last week had a good laugh, thanks to Apple’s virtual personal assistant, Siri. It all began when an iPhone 4S user asked Siri ‘Which was the best Cell Phone ever’ and it simply returned an interesting answer saying that Windows Phone running Nokia Lumia 900 Cyan was the best.
And today we see that Apple has made a few changes to Siri as the personal assistant is no longer returning the same answer to the same question.
Now when you ask Siri “What’s the best smart phone ever” instead of replying with the Nokia Lumia 900, it has been humorously saying, “The one you’re holding” and “you’re kidding, right?” and even “Wait.. There are other Phones?”
Siri actually relied on an external service called Wolfram Alpha which considered user reviews when a search was performed and so Lumia 900 Cyan scored the best. But all of that has now changed, thanks to the Apple’s bad sense of humour. But if you search Wolfram Alpha, it’ll still return you as Nokia Lumia 900 as the result to the best smartphone ever.
We did know that this was going to happen, but that was quick on Apple’s part. On the other hand Nokia has gone ahead and alleged that as Apple was not happy with the result it has gone ahead to ‘override’ Siri. Nokia spokeswoman Tracy Postill has said to The SMH, “Apple position Siri as the intelligent system that’s there to help, but clearly if they don’t like the answer, they override the software.” Not so cool!
