While Samsung has already released two variants of its flagships – one powered by its own chipset and the other with a Qualcomm processor, the company may now be working on a MediaTek variant as well.
A mysterious Samsung smartphone bearing model number SM-G930W8 was recently spotted at benchmarks. The SM-G930 is well-known to be the flagship Galaxy S7 series. So further investigation revealed that the handset is powered by either the MediaTek Helio X20 or the Helio X25 (which was supposedly exclusive to the Meizu PRO 6) processor.
While we are unable to verify the authenticity of the reports, the MediaTek Helio X20 and the Helio X25 processors with their deca-core architecture provide decent results with the Helio X25 almost touching the Exynos 8890. If true, these might be the affordable variants of the flagship Galaxy S7, which would certainly help increase sales in emerging markets. But we won’t weigh in much on this till we hear something directly from Samsung.
