Earlier we heard about Samsung’s plans to launch its first smart watch at the upcoming Unpacked event on September 4 in Berlin, now seems like the company is getting the final formalities done to ensure a smooth launch.
According to sources, a leaked section of Samsung’s trademark application before the USPTO, shows Samsung asking the trademarks for Samsung GALAXY GEAR, which is categorized under wearable digital electronic devices, such as a wristwatch. With the smart watch most likely to support the Galaxy devices, it is no surprise that the device is part of the Galaxy series.
In the meanwhile, the Korea Institute of Patent Information has awarded Samsung a new patent which could imply that the device may feature a flexible display. As per the documents, the smart watch would have a speaker and microphone, a USB port, back and menu buttons. However it’s yet to be seen if this tech would be implemented in smart watch that is expected to be launched on September 4.
