While there have been quite a few uncertainties about the future of Samsung’s Tizen platform, the company is all set to launch the Tizen phone in India.
According to sources, Samsung is expected to launch the Tizen based smartphone in India early next week. The company has apparently scheduled a launch event in the country on December 10 to showcase the handset. The handset is named as the Samsung Z1 and is expected to retail at below $100 (approx. Rs. 6000).
The Samsung Z1 is supposedly an entry level Tizen smartphone with a small 4 inch display. The device is supposedly powered by a 1.2 GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of RAM. Also expected is dual SIM functionality. Samsung is using the Indian market as test grounds for its Tizen project and also pitching it as a potential competitor to Google’s successful Android One project.
