With biometric verification gaining importance for mobile devices, Samsung has now launched the Samsung Galaxy Tab Iris with iris-recognition technology.
Samsung has announced the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab Iris, which is the company’s latest tablet with iris-recognition technology that is Aadhaar-compliant and STQC-certified under ‘Make for India’ initiative. The tablet is targeted at government benefit programs, enterprises, banks, education and financial institutions. It would also support government benefit programs and enable banks and financial institutions to streamline the process of an individual’s authentication.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Iris has a 7 inch display with resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. The tablet is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core processor with 1.5 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. The device has a 5 MP rear facing auto focus camera. The device runs on the Android Lollipop version with a 3600 mAh battery. The tablet is priced at Rs. 13499 and is available in Black colour.
Speaking about the Samsung Galaxy Tab Iris, Dr. Aloknath De, Corporate Vice President and CTO, Samsung India R&D, said, “We’re excited to offer biometric-based services to the billion plus people enrolled in Aadhaar. Our India R&D team has made significant investments in biometric technology research and we built this product leveraging our knowledge in hardware design, biometrics and security for a high speed scan, greater accuracy and high reliability.”
