The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition which was leaked last month has been officially announced by Samsung in Brazil.
As the name suggests, it’s a limited edition of the Galaxy S7 edge which is designed with focus on upcoming Olympic Games held in Rio, Brazil. If you take a look at the design of this limited edition S7 edge, you can see that the device flaunts colors that are a part of Olympic logo.
While the overall body is covered with black color, it flaunts yellow accent at the front on the earpiece and around the home button, blue accent at the back around the camera and flash. It has also covered the volume rockers on the left with green color and power button on the right with red color. These are the colors that you can find in the five rings of Olympic logo.
While there’s change in the color on the outside, the hardware under the hood remains the same. The UI of the phone also flaunts the colors of the Olympic Rings. This will be visible in the home and lock screens as well as the message, dial and contact screens and notification bar. This limited edition S7 edge also comes pre-loaded with Rio 2016 app along with Rio 2016 Olympic Games themed wallpapers.
Samsung will be giving out 12,500 units of the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition to the athletes competing in the Olympics. They will also get Gear IconX cord-free earbuds from Samsung.
“Sports are all about an individual’s relentless journey of challenging complacency, and the Olympic Games are the ultimate global celebration of the progress and achievement of athletes, countries and their fans coming together to unite the world. Samsung admires the spirit of Olympians and fans across the globe who continuously push boundaries for the better.” said Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics.
If you are already jealous of those athletes because they are getting this limited edition, then let us tell you that Samsung will avail 2016 units of this limited edition from July 18, 2016 in selected countries including Brazil, the United States, China, Germany and Korea.
Samsung has also developed the Rio 2016 app which will be updated in early August to provide the official Olympic Games schedule, venue and event information, results, medal counts, and more real-time updates. The app will be available for download through Samsung Galaxy Apps, Google Play for Android, App Store for iOS, and selected App Store in China as well as the Windows App Store.
While Samsung will be selling this Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edtion from July 18, there’s no information about the price tag it will carry. It’s also said that this limited edition will be sold exclusively through Best Buy in the US.
However, this is not the only limited edition of Galaxy S7 edge. Samsung announced the Galaxy S7 edge Injustice Edition (Batman edition) back in May this year which we think looks much more cooler than the Olympic Edition. What do you think?
