The Android 4.4 – KitKat OS update schedule for Samsung devices is out. While devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S4 are getting updated to Android 4.4, there is no sign of a Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 update, except for United States, indicating that it might be the end of the road for older Samsung devices as far as Android updates are concerned.
The whole story came out in a Samsung Spokesperson interview to a Polish blogger. The reason why the Samsung Galaxy S3 was shunned for the update was due to lack of RAM on the device which is a bit sceptical, since Android 4.4 is designed to empower devices with less RAM. It might just be that the Samsung TouchWiz new version might not adapt to older devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S3.
The update schedule includes actually most devices that have been released after the Samsung Galaxy S3. The international Samsung smartphones that will receive an Android 4.4 update are:
- Samsung Galaxy Note 3
- Samsung Galaxy Note 2
- Samsung Galaxy S4
- Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini
- Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom
- Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3
- Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8
- Samsung Galaxy Grand
- Samsung Galaxy Grand 2
- Samsung Galaxy Express 2
- Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
- Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Model)
- Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1
The list seems quite substantial and if you have a Galaxy S4 or any of the other devices, keep looking for Android KitKat updates.
