Putting an end to the numerous rumours that we have encountered over the last few months, Samsung has finally launched the much awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 3 at the second edition of the unpacked event held at the IFA 2013 in Berlin.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will have an increased screen size of 5.7 inches with full HD Super AMOLED display, however it is slimmer at just 8.3 mm and lighter at 168 g compared to the earlier Note. The device will feature a textured-touch back cover and would be available in Jet Black, Classic White and Blush Pink.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 would be available in two variants, one powered by the 2.3 GHz quad core Snapdragon 800 processor and the other with a 1.9 GHz octa core Exynos processor. While the former would have LTE support, the latter will have to suffice with 3G connectivity. The device would be packed with 3 GB of RAM and 32/64 GB of internal storage.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 would be equipped with a 13 MP camera that was earlier seen on the Galaxy S4. The Auto Focus camera would be equipped with a high CRI LED flash. The front camera has a 2 MP resolution. The camera would support Dual camera mode with dual video call.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will use the new redesigned S-Pen, which has a simpler user interface with added functionality. Using the S-Pen, users can access the Air Command button which can be used to write a handwritten note using the Action Memo or to captures the full screen image using Screen Write. The Scrapbook helps to organize content and information from various sources, whereas the S-Finder allows users to expansively search for content on their device regardless of the type. The Pen Window can be used to open a small application window on an existing application besides drawing sketches or writing notes.
Speaking about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics, said, “We introduced the original Galaxy Note in 2011 and launched a whole new smart device category. The undeniable success of the Galaxy Note strengthened our conviction that consumers want higher quality features for smart devices and they want those new features to make their lives better. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is a powerful, original approach that enables users to tell the stories of their lives through dynamic and seamless expressions of their passions across work, play and life experiences. With a simple click of the S Pen button, users can unlock opportunities for self-expression, features that transform everyday activities into extraordinary events and access to new experiences delivered to them on Note 3’s larger screen.”
