The Samsung Galaxy J5 which was launched in India last year is now receiving the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. The Galaxy J5 was running on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
The model which is receiving the Marshmallow update is SM-J500F, and, it should not be mistaken with the Galaxy J5 (2016) which was launched last month. The size of the update is 874.17 MB in size so we suggest you download this update over a Wi-Fi connection instead of Mobile Data. This update carries build number J500FXXU1BPF and is rolled out over the air.
Being a Marshmallow update, the J5 will get features like Google Now On Tap, Doze and App Permissions. Other changes include new TouchWiz UI with updated design, advanced power saving mode and a new vibration pattern concept. If you haven’t received the update yet, you can check it manually by going to Settings > About device > Software update.
