A couple of days ago, press render of Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) had leaked online which showed off the Smart Glow ring on the device. Well, those renders were indeed legit as Samsung has made the Galaxy J2 (2016) official in India today. The device is priced at ₹9750 and does come with Smart Glow feature.
The Galaxy J2 (2016) is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor which is paired with 1.5 GB RAM and Mali-400 MP2 GPU. The device sports a 5-inch HD display and packs 2600 mAh battery. It also features an 8 MP camera at the back along with a 5 MP camera at the front. The Galaxy J2 (2016) runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and supports dual SIM.
The main highlight of this smartphone is the Smart Glow notification ring at the back. It’s basically an LED ring around the rear camera which can be customized for notifications. With Smart Glow, you can color-code your contacts, apps and phone usage alerts so that you don’t miss out on important notifications. Smart Glow notification ring also helps take better selfies from rear camera with a feature called Selfie Assist.
The Galaxy J2 (2016) also comes with Turbo Speed Technology (TST), which, according to Samsung “enhances the performance of the smartphone by using the least amount of resources to complete a particular task in the fastest time”. Samsung claims the app loading time to be 40% faster due to TST. It also shuts down idle processes proactively which are running in the background. This is done to free up RAM for new tasks.
