While Samsung is known to release new smartphones based on existing models with raised specs, the company made a surprise move in quietly launching the Samsung Galaxy Core Plus.
The Samsung Galaxy Core Plus is a surprising downgraded version from Samsung of its earlier Galaxy Core handset. The downgrade is apparently to maximise production efficiency. The device sports a small 4.3 inch display with resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Like the earlier version, the smartphone is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual core processor however with just 768 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage.
The Samsung Galaxy Core Plus is equipped with a 5 MP rear facing camera and a front facing VGA camera. Interestingly, the device has received an upgrade to the Android v4.2. Despite the low specs the smartphone is priced at $270, which considering yesterday’s Moto G of $179, is just too high. As the handset is targeted towards the developing markets, we can expect to see the handset in India by the end of the year.
