Google rolled out June security update for Nexus devices last week, and now, Samsung has also started rolling out the June security update for Galaxy A5 (2016).
Samsung has become a little more regular lately in rolling out security updates to its smartphones. Those Galaxy A5 (2016) users who are residing in Asia or Europe should see a notification to this update on their device. Besides Google’s latest patch for Android, this update also includes some Samsung specific fixes including the fix for a vulnerability with which hackers could bypass the lock screen using a USB cable.
You can see the security patch level of Android being updated to 1 June 2016 after installing the update on your Galaxy A5 (2016). The update is being rolled out over the air, but if you haven’t received it yet, or can’t wait for it, you can go to Settings > About device > Software update to check and download it manually.
There’s still no information about Marshmallow update for this smartphone though, it still runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It’s worth noting that the Galaxy J5 (2015) started receiving Marshmallow update in India from yesterday.
