In order to provide its subscribers wider coverage and uninterrupted service, Reliance Communication has made plans to expand its network across the country and thereby provide better facilities to the customers.
In lieu of the Intra-Circle Roaming agreements that Reliance Communication is signing with existing operators for the 2G GSM network, the RCOM’s network footprint would increase by 10,000 base stations thus bringing in nearly 150 million customers, which is nearly Rs. 10000 crore worth market opportunity. Once in place, RCOM’s 2G GSM customers will be able to roam seamlessly on all the partnered networks without paying any additional cost.
As of now, Reliance Communication has tied up with Aircel India to provide seamless mobility and a wider network footprint. The agreement is on a ‘Pay As You Use’ model which will help to improve both service quality and operational efficiencies affordably. The alliance will also help optimize Capex and Opex spends and also improve both outdoor and in-building network coverage.
Reliance Communication is in the advanced stage of talks with various national operators for the 2G GSM ICR alliances. These talks are expected to be positively concluded by the end of the second quarter.
