Portable gaming consoles are having a tough time as smart phone gaming has increased since last year. A market analysis done by ‘Flurry’ shows that the iOS and Android gaming almost doubled their market share against console and portable gaming. Smartphone gaming revenue has increased from 5% to 8% in the US market, while console gaming revenue grew from 71% to 76% and portable gaming revenue dipped from 24% to 16%. So we see that console gaming isn’t much affected, however portable gaming is under pressure. Surely, smart phone gaming is at an all time high, and with smart phones like the Xperia Play on its way, it soon might just tip-off the portable gaming segment.
