The international version of the Samsung Galaxy S III is said to be receiving an Over-the-air (OTA) update which is said to be a ‘stability update’.
But the actual change in this update is what we were actually expecting. With this update the local (on-device) search functionality in the smart phone’s Google Search App has been killed.
This update has now secured the Galaxy S III from any legal case from Apple which was successful in getting the Galaxy Nexus banned from sales in the US due to this search feature.
The 27 MB update arrives with the version XXBLG6 and a new baseband version XXLG6 which was recently built only on July 20. With this update, there are numerous bug fixes, better stability and many other minor changes.
One interesting but sad thing about this update is that users are not being informed that this update would remove the search feature from their device which is not a great move as after the update; users of the smartphone are left disheartened.
