Helping people to access and edit documents on the widely used mobile platform, Microsoft after delaying it for quite some time launched the Office Mobile app for Android.
The Microsoft Office Mobile for Android smartphones follows the iOS app and retains the same design. The Microsoft Office Mobile can be used to access office documents which are stored on SkyDrive, SkyDrive Pro, or SharePoint. It provides access to the documents when offline, but changes if any can be saved only when online. It can also access office documents which are attached in the email.
However the Android app has an optimized version of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and allows you to create documents and style sheets. The changes and other edits are saved directly to the cloud when connected by internet. Unfortunately the app requires an active Office 365 subscription to avail advanced options for formatting your documents.
As of now the Microsoft Office Mobile for Android is only for smartphones and not for tablet device. This could be due the trend of tablets replacing the Windows PC’s. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
