As if Nokia wasn’t being pressurized enough by Samsung and Apple for market share, the senior Vice-President of Nokia for India, Middle East and Asia has quit to move back to his home in India.
According to reports, after being with Nokia for 8 years, the senior Vice-President of Nokia for India, Middle East and Asia, D Shivakumar has quit and says he wants to come back to India. He was actively responsible for taking Nokia’s brand from number 71 to Number 1 in India. Under his guidance, the mobility retail outlets moved from 35,000 to more than 200,000.
Shivakumar, who is credited for the Nokia Life Tools, will be heading back to India where his family lives. While his next move is not yet decided, he would be mentoring Arto Nummela, VP Smart Devices Nokia to continue to maintain the standard he created for Nokia. He said, “I have done my bit for Nokia. India is the market where I want to get back to.”
