We know that loads and loads of Windows Phone 7.5 smartphone users who know that they will not be upgraded to the latest Windows Phone 8 OS are desperately waiting for the little Windows but crucial Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade to roll out.
And if you own a Nokia Lumia smartphone with Windows Phone 7.5 OS running on it, then the Finnish giant has some good news for you. Nokia has today announced that it is rolling out the Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade to the Nokia Lumia 510, 610, 710, 800 and 900 smartphone globally.
The upgrade is being rolled out gradually and will be available for all users with unlocked Nokia Lumia smartphone and those with carrier approved handsets through February. The Windows Phone 510 is already shipping with the Windows Phone 7.8 OS out-of-the-box and owners of Lumia smartphones in India could already get the upgrade month’s ago as we had shared with you earlier.
The Windows Phone 7.8 OS upgrade brings in a nice package of new features for older Lumia smartphone owners which include:
- Resizable Live Tiles
- Set Bing Image of the Day as your Wallpaper
- Transfer files via Bluetooth
- New Accent colors
- Imaging enhancements like Camera Extras
- Ringtone maker
- Improved pocket and child lock feature
- Internet sharing
- Apps like Contact Share, Play To and Nokia City Lens
So if you own a Lumia 510, 610, 710, 800 and 900 smartphone with Windows Phone 7.5 running on it, then enable the notification for the upgrade by Going to Settings > Phone Update > “Notify me when new updates are found”. You can also connect your phone to your computer via Zune for PC, or the Windows Phone app for Mac and follow the onscreen instructions as shown in the video below.
