We just posted about a leaked video of the Nokia Lumia 610 supporting NFC technology. Well let’s make it official as Nokia has just announced an NFC version of the Lumia 610 in the UK.
The smartphone has been released on Orange network and will reach other networks eventually.
The Lumia 610 NFC also has the hardware and software enablers for the implementation of NFC payment and ticketing solutions, and has been certified for contactless payments both with MasterCard PayPass technology, and with Visa’s mobile application for payments at the point of sale, Visa payWave.
Other than the addition of NFC features, the smartphone will not have any other changes in hardware or software. The specs of the device will include an 800MHz processor, 256MB of RAM, a 3.7 inch display with 800×480 pixels resolution, a 5MP camera, 8GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HSUPA and HSPDA connectivity, microUSB, and now the addition of NFC.
The Lumia 610 NFC is expected to be available early in the third quarter of 2012.
