While we have been hearing reports about Nokia releasing its popular HERE maps for Android, the company has finally launched the app for Android devices.
Nokia has officially launched the Nokia HERE Maps for Android devices. As the app is still in beta, it is supported only on Android devices running version 4.1 and higher. Also for the best results, the company suggests using it on devices having at least 1 GB of RAM and display size ranging between 4 inches to 6 inches. The app is currently not available on the Google Play store and has to be downloaded and then installed manually.
The Nokia HERE Maps is known for its turn-by-turn directions and points-of-interest, live traffic info and public transport maps and directions. The map also allows its users to download the map of entire region and use it when offline as in without requiring an active data connection. You can download the Nokia HERE Maps beta from the official Website.
Commenting about the app Nokia posted, “We’ve discovered that some ‘cache cleaner’ apps accidentally delete the navigation voices in the HERE app. We’re very close to a fix, which will be released in the next weeks, but in the meantime we’d ask you not to use such apps if you want to use voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation.”
